Just a few photos of recent events…



The lambing is finally done – no more 5.30am starts! Huzzah! I forget exactly how many there were but there were 80 ewes (or yaows as they get called up here – just imagine you are a cat yawning very quickly or sitting outside the door plaintively calling to come in ‘yeaow!’ and you should have the pronunciation about right) and most of them had twins. It was a lambing baptism of fire for me, with disturbing exploding lambs and attacks by ravens and other horrors but it was educational none the less. Thank you all.






Fablious shelves


Neil, after much deliberation, put up these rather amazing shelves. I put stuff on them. Don’t know what the toilet roll is about – I must have had a runny nose… Such is the excitement in my life.












The Lodge is in full bloom, bursting at the seams with rhodedendererdrons a plenty, azaleas, Welsh poppies and other things that I don’t know the names of but that a no the less beautiful for it. I forgot to take my phone to the Lodge because I am a numpty, but I have pho-to-graph-ed the spoils I brought back. Mmmm if only you had smell-o-vision.











FAIL. Amy cannot line up the rainbow with the chimney pot…sigh. The weather here has been mental – all seasons in a day, the weary locals call it, as we all tramp round with jumpers, raincoats, suncream and sunglasses. Rain, hail, sun, 80 mile an hours winds and snow on the hills has just been this morning.











I am expanding my knitting repertoire as I was trying to demonstrate here by modelling and taking a picture of my hat… Can we see the hat? No. Can I keep both my eyes open whilst taking a picture of said hat? No. Oh well. It has ears!







Gardening fun times!


Success! The beleaguered local growing group, weighed down by fights over proposed allotment sites and angry residents, found a wee window of sun. We all trotted down to the Inverbroom site to have a bash at removing some of the docks in an attempt to put off the well fed and enthusiastic mouse population. The sun came out, the rain came down and the delightful Rachel brought cake and coffee and many many docks were removed. Much fun was had by all and perhaps the beetroot will survive this year.

Yesterday I was mainly eating…

But first the day before – perhaps this is better – just keep track and forget posting every day – never going to happen. A learning experience, oh yes.

Dinner at Neil’s mum’s – one slice black pudding, one slice white pudding, half a lorne sausage, one normal sausage, chips, many cherry tomatoes (in vain attempt to undo all lorry driver feeling – whereas banoffee pie for breakfast seems ok, especially if homemade, somehow my brain cannot compute many meat-based things accompanied only by chips without feeling like I have turned into a man called Barry who has a lorry called Wanda and eats 2 hamburgers for breakfast- Neil’s mum provides vegetables just for me)

I suspect more banoffee pie but didn’t write it in ma book

A giant Chinese eat more than you should sensibly eat in a day buffet – mostly spicy mushrooms because I love them, but also vegetablenoodlesprawntoastspringrollsandterribleguilty



Chai and shortbread (many – 6?) while watching the Matrix (on VHS!) so possibly burned off fat with quasi-Christian shoot em up adrenaline? I even watched the informative ‘how we made the spinny round, slow bullet, trippy bit’ that was an ‘extra’ (on VHS!) plus an advert for DVDs – what they are and just how unimaginably great they’ll be!
