Too too long


And so to bed…

I am sick as a dog, surrounded by drifts of rumpled tissues, sniffling my way through the daily chores. Washing up and more washing up.

However, all is not lost. There is cake! And the sun is out.

I saw recently on a blog I now forget, a recipe for banana cake with a photo of some not very brown bananas. They were a bit speckled yes, but not brown and the author was waxing lyrical about how great it was to have something to do with bananas this brown. Personally, I like bananas best when they’re verging on the desperate so I don’t make cakes with them until they look like this…

Admittedly, these particularly puppies were so ripe they¬†were practically alcoholic. I tried a recipe that¬†didn’t use butter as, typically, I didn’t have any, but I have to confess, I wasn’t impressed. The cake turned out ok but was a little on the rubbery side for my liking. Needless to say, with Neil in the house, it didn’t last long, rubbery or otherwise. Nonetheless, I won’t include the recipe.
